CALL TO ORDER

New Business
6:55 Discussion of various opportunities for outreach to students
7:00 Martin passed around a copy of a letter he sent to Port of Seattle authorities offering AU's assistance should a similar situation to last year's Christmas Tree debacle arise in the future. Perry Cooper from the Port indicated that he will contact us if there is a similar event.
7:05 Martin passed around a copy of a form letter to be sent to houses of worship warning them about political entanglement ahead of the election. This idea is endorsed by the National organization. There was _much_ discussion on this point. Richard and Damon were concerned about the appearance of targeting certain kinds of religious institutions. Ryan suggested that the letter offer help and elucidation of tax issues to the institutions.
7:15 Martin has scheduled Mikey Weinstein for February 16. Mikey has requested an honorarium of $1000, plus flight and hotel fees covered. Martin will begin calling the membership soliciting donations. Eastside has offered help. Martin leans toward Town Hall. Lori mentioned Kane Hall.
7:30 Martin mentioned that Marjorie suggested creating a contest for members. The member who brings in the most new members over the year gets some reward.
7:40 Damon raised the issue of the cost of the newsletter. Martin suggested that he could do the printing in the future to save on costs. Next newsletter to be sent in January, and we will move to every other month on newsletters.
Action items:
Martin -- follow up with the UPS student on establishing a relationship with interested students at UPS
Damon -- create a more mellifluous letter to send to religious institutions, and send it around for approval by the entire board before it is sent out. Martin -- suggest a time to meet about the Mikey Weinstein event
7:45: Adjourned
