CityChurch Materials in Public Schools

We've had a couple of reports from members of volunteers in public schools proselytizing without the apparent knowledge of the school administration.  At Washington Middle School, students were handed cards like the one below, with information about Generation Church, the youth ministry of CityChurch.

This activity is extremely problematic, and is a clear violation of the separation of church and state.  It is also extremely difficult to fight, since it is under the table.  Please ask around to see if any students you know are being approached at school in this manner, and contact us at info@auseattle.org if you hear anything.

Faith and Freedom: Congress simulation class raises issue of separating church and state

Dino Rossi to be investigated by AU

The Tacoma, Wash., branch of the Christian Businessmen’s Connection hosted Republican candidate Dino Rossi on May 21 in Fircrest. During the event, Dwight Mason, the group’s president, noted that fund-raising envelopes for Rossi had been left on the tables.  The Tacoma News Tribune reported that Mason prayed for Rossi and then said, “OK, at your table, this is not a fundraiser, though Dino did leave with us a couple envelopes there, and I’m sure he’d appreciate that.”  A spokesperson for Rossi, Jill Strait, later confirmed that the envelopes, used to collect donations, were left on tables. Strait said, “We have envelopes that we bring with us wherever we go.” -AU national website
